Design Technology
Design Technology and Construction at DYCA covers a broad range of subject areas, but the one intention of all these different disciplines is to encourage students to develop transferable independent learning skills such as the ability to gather research, creative thinking and problem solving.
The different areas
Graphics
This involves students developing the skills to generate imagery using both traditional and technological methods, a combination of basic drawing skills and IT skills are developed alongside one another.
Product Design
Within this area students get to develop their creative thinking skills in order to turn their ideas in to a range of new and exciting products. Students also learn how to produce prototypes of their ideas using a range of different materials and media. The cry of \"Eureka\" is often heard coming from this area. GCSE Product Design is offered at KS4 to those budding inventors and designers of the future.
